New Member Draw
Next, we held our new member draw.
Growing our membership is critical to the success of 100 Men. It brings new energy, spreads the word, and builds stronger community connections.
We plan to continue this tradition, so if you know someone who might be interested, please invite them! Not only will they be part of something meaningful, they’ll also have a great chance of winning a prize.
Message from Todd Cunningham
Next, we heard a special message from Todd Cunningham. Todd is one of the group's OGs and has decided it is time to move on to other ventures.
Todd spoke about why he got involved and what he has learned about community, giving, and helping others since moving to Airdrie nearly 25 years ago.
When 100 Men started, creating something new was chaotic and stressful, but it was also instantly rewarding. Todd said it still holds a place in his heart as "the proudest thing I've helped build."
We at 100 Men are incredibly appreciative of Todd and everything he has done. He leaves a big hole in our group, and we'll be looking for someone to fill his enormous shoes.

Wilkie Award - Chris Hovagimian
The Wilkie Award recognizes a member who embodies the spirit of our late co-founder Keith Wilkinson. We consider The Wilkie to be a noble and prestigious honour!
When we agreed to nominate Chris for this meeting, we all wondered how it had taken us this long to recognize him. We were likely just terrified to mess up his last name (even though it sounds the way it is spelled).
Chris is a staple in the community, spreading his support across many groups in Airdrie. He was even voted Airdrie's Best Citizen in 2026, so we're certainly not the only ones to notice.
Chris is incredibly generous and friendly, bringing infectious enthusiasm while remaining humble. From the moment he joined 100 Men, Chris has been an all-in member, and we're grateful to have him.
Thank you for everything you do! We appreciate you, Chris Ho-va-gi-mi-an!

Airdrie 1st Club
The "Ladies in Red” showed up in full force tonight! A dozen or so graced our stage to talk about the new chapter they're embarking on with a new board eager to continue their 5 decades of 'neighbours helping neighbours'.
The Airdrie 1st Club (known to many previously as the Airdrie Lioness Club) is 100% volunteer-funded. Every dollar that is raised stays in Airdrie. The 1st Club has many programs that could make good use of a 100 Men donation including their birthday closet - which provides birthday essentials for those in need - and, of course, their flagship Holiday Hamper program.
The Hamper helped over 400 families (1500 people) last year and is open to anyone that meets their financial screening requirements. Last year it cost just under $200,000 to run the hamper program.
Off the Grid Youth
Next, we heard from Off the Grid Youth, a group that strives to equip youth and young adults with the tools they need to prepare them for gainful employment and personal success. The group focuses on giving back to the community through food drives, transportation, sport opportunities, and more.
We heard from two youth that have benefitted from the program as well as from Abe, the group's founder. They wanted to extend gratitude to the group for creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories. Examples include Attend day camp, daddy daughter hair day, and so on.
With funds received, the group would do some much-needed maintenance on the OTG van as well as support student who are moving on to University in the Fall.
Airdrie Inclusive
Finally we heard from Makayla, who has recently started Airdrie Inclusive. Spurred on by her own experiences when her son was diagnosed with a difficult form of autism.
With support and funding, he thrived at home where the environment was tailored to him. This was not the case outside the home, including school, and Makayla has found this to be the case with many others.
Her message was that the focus on inclusive design has to happen from the start - not just as a retroactive fix. There are too many individuals are not able to participate fully in our community and barriers are not a niche issue. We need to shift our mindsets and change how we define belonging.
Airdrie Inclusive is about jumpstarting that perception change and creating places where children feel like they belong from the beginning and elders can live their days with dignity.
Getting an organization off the ground requires a lot of resources and the funds from 100 Men, would support that as well as their Big Hug Fund - a fund that will help children with disabilities access meaningful experiences and opportunities by reducing barriers that may prevent participation

Fireside Chat - Spencer Campbell
While votes were being tallied, local athlete Spencer Campbell joined the stage to discuss his incredible story.
Spencer is a strongman - you know those guys who lift insane amounts of weights and huge boulders and pull tractors and just generally push their human body to the max limit.
During a training session, Spencer's had a gruesome injury where he tore his ACL, LCL, PCL and tore his hamstring, quadricep, and bicep femoris tendon.
He was told he might never walk again, and doctors even recommended amputation. He declined and opted for experimental surgeries. Spencer spent a year and a half in a wheelchair and had to completely retrain his body to walk in an entirely new way.
He spoke about the mental health challenges of going from being a high-level athlete to being unable to walk and facing the possibility of losing a leg. He was especially worried about becoming disconnected from his active friend group, but they were incredibly supportive and inclusive. Their support pushed him forward and kept him motivated.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Spencer was back competing at Alberta's Strongest Man!
Incredible - and a great example of how we can respond when we're knocked down. Thanks to Spencer for sharing his story with us.

Back to the vote!
We had another great turnout and were able to give away $17,625, which was boosted by two generous auctions - an original aluminum photo print from Tim Lowing of Lowing Media and a generous gift basket from Ethan O'Neill of State and Main. We also had an offer to do free website support to the winning presenter, courtesy of Kevin Evans of Code To Cloud!
Continuing our new format, we have decided to cap the 2nd and 3rd amounts at $2500 per meeting and donating the remainder to the group with the highest vote. We did this because we want you to know that your vote counts and we know that large single donations can have a compounding impact.
So, for this meeting, Off the Grid Youth and the Airdrie Inclusive walked away with $2,500, while Airdrie 1st Club received $12,625!
